A cracking winter walk with my good walking pal Pete, today. We hoped to do a lot more than we did, but the conditions forced us to be cautious, as we just didn’t have the spikes needed to master the icy slope of Yarlside. It’s a steep old climb and it would have been dangerous without the right gear. There was plenty of deep snow in the Howgills today and some splendid views across the snow covered tops, out to the Lakes, Yorkshire Dales and across the Pennines.
