My first walk for about eight weeks, after waiting for my foot to heal. This is the longest spell since I started walking where I've not been on the hills. I couldn't have picked a better day to return. The weather was superb. Bright sunshine for most of the walk, freezing on the tops with a slight wind, all the boggy sections were frozen and I needed my microspikes beside the waterfall on the ascent of Birchen Clough. First proper training walk for the Southern Upland Way and I felt quite tired at the end. My foot was sore post-walk but felt not too bad during the walk.
