Walking LEJOG Route

I was having a play with Google Maps this morning and I asked it for the driving directions from Land’s End to John O’Groats – it gave me the obvious route, covering about 837 miles and about 16 hours driving time.

I then thought it would be interesting to see what it’s walking route would be – I was expecting minor roads and back lanes of course, not footpaths. I was quite surprised to see what it offered me!

The route is 3974 miles long and would take an estimated 563 hours!

My LEJOG planning is going well, and despite this interesting route option, I think I’ll stick to my original plan.
