Route Description: Armboth, Thirlmere permissive path, Sippling Crag (The Benn), Castle Crag, Raven Crag, Forest track, Middlesteads Gill, Armboth Fell, Fisher Gill, Armboth
There is a car park at Armboth (along with one at the Thirlmere dam) and it has toilets, but it also has a pay and display machine, so arriving early we found a spot just outside the car park and without blocking a gate.
A wonderful day, spoiled by my unshakable flu, but wasn’t going to not walk. Thanks to Paul we persevered and bagged Raven Crag, despite incredible tree falls across the main path which look unlikely to be cleared for the foreseeable future. Small rain shower in the middle of blue skies and great views. Still a boggy nightmare in places, but good to be out with a great walking companion.
