A slight variation on a previous walk that diverts slightly to pick up the summits of Ling Haw and Arant Haw. A miserable summer walk with low cloud obscuring the views all day and cold and windy on the top. The lack of shelter on Howgill tops is ever a problem for a lunch stop and today I tried to catch some respite in a dip beside the cairn on Calders – without much effect. Saw a rescue helicopter on the way down Arant Haw, so hope it was on exercise rather than a rescue!
