I decided to return to a route I did with Rambling Pete back in March, when the fells were under a couple of feet of snow – we’d not managed to ascend Yarlside because of the snow and ice that day, so I wanted to come back and bag it, along with a couple of other Yorkshire Top 30 fells that are still outstanding on my list. A much better day underfoot, and with beautiful blue skies for the most part. The final section back into the village wasn’t great, the path I chose isn’t used very often and it’s horrendously overgrown.
