I’ve not been well for the past couple of weeks, it wasn’t swine flu, but a combination throat and chest infection left me unable to go to work for a week and has meant I’ve been unable to get into the hills. This is the third weekend without a walk and I’m starting to feel the soles of my feet itch. I should be fit and well again by next week, so here’s hoping for an improvement in the weather before then.

All the time away from the hills has allowed me to catch up on some of the site admin and walk journals that I’ve neglected over the past few months though. I’ve now updated the walks section of my personal site and added walk journals for the whole of 2009 – all the day walks at least – the Coast to Coast journal is still not started and I will be doing a journal for the two days I did along Hadrian’s Wall too.

If my will power permits, I will start to publish my weekly walks in the diary (which is what it was for originally), as well as keeping a more permanent record on the web site. To get the ball rolling, I’ve just added my most recent walk, Yarlside in the Howgills.

I hope this signals a return to writing for me – I have a C2C journal to write and I’ve already had a couple of folk email me and ask when it will be ready. The answer of course is “when it’s ready” – but in reality, probably not much before Christmas. Sometimes the writing bug is strong in me, other times I have no urge at all.

  1. I missed 3 weekends and the first trip out was yesterday, and it hurt on the ups 🙂
Yarlside was steep coming down, so no idea how we would have managed to get up it covered in ice.

  2. Good to see you’ve been out and about. I was beginning to think you were skiving off this walking mallarkey. Some great pictures in amongst these walks – surely some worthy of your wallpaper’s. That Yarlside still seems steep to me though.

Looking forward to reading up the C2C…….soon

  3. Thanks Shirl, feeling much better.
I’ve rehearsed the first paragraph (always the toughest part to write) of the C2C journal several times in my head, but it still doesn’t sound right 🙂 Once I have that down pat I’ll be able to start.

  4. I’m sorry to hear you’ve not been feeling well. Let’s hope it’s almost over now.

I know what you mean about that writing bug thing. I’ve written up all but 5 days of this year’s TGO Chally, but that was over a month ago and I simply can’t motivate myself to finish it off yet. It took me about 18 months to complete my C2C walk, having posted the first 5 days. Hopefully you’ll feel like getting down to writing up your C2C soon 🙂
