I returned to a Fell I’ve been meaning to re-visit for a long time. I was here in 2005 – the early days of my fell walking career and was nearly blown off the top. I was hoping for better weather today.
Fantasticly remote spot to park the car – the hardcore doesn’t go much further than this
You can see how remote the car is
The eastern flank of Carrock Fell, my path runs along the face and past the tree just off centre
The fells stop here – Lakeland to the left – flat stuff to the right
Looking up my path to the lower slopes of Carrock Fell
The path is faint but followable, once you’re on it
It heads up through the bracken and heather
See what I mean – no fells to be seen in this direction
Approaching the summit of Carrock Fell and the welcome shelter – it’s a bit breezy up here
High Pike (right) as seen from Carrock Fell
Summit of High Pike and just after this shot the skies turned grey and filled with clouds and rain and stuff
Approaching Lingy Hut and the rain starts – a good point to return to the car though
Heading down Grainsgill Beck, two walkers approaching up the beck
