A mostly warm and pleasant start to the day, despite having to ascend over 1000 feet back to the border ridge. We made good progress along this section, but I think the climb must have taken all my reserves, because the rest of the day was wearisome for me, especially the repeated climbs to various low tops. The ascent to Cheviot Corner was a killer and I crawled slowly up to the top, to see Chris jogging off to bag the summit of the Cheviot. The weather turned as I waited for him and we proceeded together in increasing wind and decreasing temperatures. Highlight of the day was definitely the RAF Search & Rescue helicopter landing right next to us as part of an exercise. The final trudge down into Kirk Yetholm was done alone as Chris had agreed to map the high route at the end for me. I signed the completers book in the Border Hotel, as a section-hiker I couldn't accept the offered pint though!
