Even better than the previous day if possible. A slow start as we warmed our bones gently in the rising sun and set off along the ridge, following the wall to Fountains Fell South Top. Cloud filled Ribblesdale below us and the views were spectacular as it swirled, rose and fell all morning. I managed to step off the path, into a snow-topped bog, where I splashed about, waist-deep, for a couple of minutes until I managed to scramble out - completely soaked! I spent the next hour warming up again, with boots filled with water. The descent from the trig point on Knowe Fell was interesting, as we crossed snow covered tussocks and pathless pasture to reach a small quad-bike track. We eventually descended into the mist and made it back to the car with ominous black clouds building on the horizon. An incident free journey back to the motorway thankfully, with none of the car balletics of the previous day!
