I returned to the Ill Bell ridge, this time in much better weather to get pictures of the surrounding Wainwrights from that ridge. Arriving early, I managed to secure one of the two or three possible parking spaces in the layby between Troutbeck and Limefitt Park. A thoroughly enjoyable day with superb views, clear skies and warm sun. The latter stages of the walk were very wet, but I was walking in my Inov-8 Terrocs today, so I wasn’t all that concerned. It did put me off doing Troutbeck Tongue though, so this is still not ticked off my Wainwright list. I have now resolved to make this hill my final Wainwright of this first round.
