After two weekends of no walking, I absolutely had to get out today, whatever the weather threw at me. A week of lovely cold, clear days was abruptly ended with a Saturday of howling wind, freezing rain and low cloud. The walk up beside Buckden Beck was a delight and I don't know why anyone would use the Rake to reach the summit when they could go this way. The tops were still mostly frozen, with an inch of water lying atop the frozen peat bed. Wind chill of -10C recorded on the summit and I decided to forgo the long walk out to Naughtberry Hill for another day.
