It’s always dangerous when I don’t go out walking at the weekend, because I normally take the opportunity to walk around the local gear shops and that inevitably leads to me spending money!
This time it was a replacement for my Inov-8 Terrocs, which fell apart during my West Highland Way walk in May. I was a bit gutted that they disintegrated after such a short amount of walking – I’d only had them for about 16 months – but I certainly loved them and the feel of walking in them.
Since their demise I’ve been using my Scarpa ZeroG 10 (see here) three-season boots and although they’re great and they feel comfortable, they are almost three times heavier than the Inov-8s and you can feel that on a long walk. So it’s been on my mind for a while to replace the Inov-8s.
The result is that I bought some Roclite’s at the weekend. These are lighter than the Terrocs and although they’re a bit loud on the feet they feel like carpet slippers. I’ll give them a test at the weekend hopefully, somewhere scrambly maybe, and report back on them.
